Villa Arca was designed and built by architect Jean van den Bogaerde in 1966 as his personal residence, on a wedge-shaped site at a road junction in Sint-Martens-Latem, Belgium.
The house combines immovable and movable Japanese-style panels for flexible use of space, and a glass facade with the staircase at its centre. Its materials — plaster, wood, corrugated sheets and black PVC — give it a unique character; the villa is now listed and protected as immovable heritage.
It is lit by original Jules Wabbes pieces: a Bronze Wall Lamp (polished bronze), Mini Wall Lamps (nickel-plated and polished brass) and a Small Hexagonal Table Lamp (patinated bronze).
The villa is now inhabited by Belgian interior designer Frederic Hooft. It was photographed in January 2023 by Frederik Vercruysse.
